🚀 Getting Started

How do I download Inertia Fit?

+

iPhone users: Download Inertia Fit from the App Store.

Android users: Download Inertia Fit from the Google Play Store.

I'm new to the app - where should I start?

+

Check out the Getting Started Guide for a complete walkthrough!

Quick start:

  1. Find your friends: Search by username, check suggested friends, or join your gym to find other members
  2. Start tracking: Start a quick workout or grab a template like Push/Pull/Legs to start logging
  3. Stay connected: See your friends' workouts in the activity feed

What makes Inertia Fit different from other workout trackers?

+

Inertia Fit is built for lifting with friends. While the tracker stays out of your way with fast logging and smart features, the real value is staying connected with your crew:

  • See what your friends are lifting in real time
  • Train "together" from anywhere with joint workouts
  • Try any friend's workout with their exact sets as your target
  • Create challenges and compete on leaderboards

Different gyms, different cities, different schedules—same crew.

👥 Friends & Crew

How do I find and add friends?

+

There are several ways to build your crew:

  • Search: Look up friends by username
  • Suggested Friends: Discover people through mutual connections
  • Your Gym: Set your gym location to find other Inertia users who train there

Send a friend request and once accepted, you'll see each other's workouts in your activity feed.

What is "Your Crew"?

+

Your Crew is your dashboard for staying connected with your lifting friends. It shows:

  • Crew Pulse: Overall crew activity—how many friends lifted this week
  • Who's Lifting Right Now: See friends currently in a workout
  • Upcoming Workouts: Planned workouts from friends that you can join
  • Top Training Partners: Stats based on your interactions—joint challenges, joint workouts, trying each other's workouts

What shows up in the activity feed?

+

The activity feed shows updates from you and your friends:

  • Completed workouts with full details (exercises, sets, reps)
  • Personal records and milestones
  • Challenge wins

See exactly what your friends are lifting without having to ask.

How do privacy controls work?

+

Granular controls let you decide what's visible:

  • Auto-share workouts and other post types (on/off)
  • Live activity visibility (whether friends see you're lifting)
  • Appear on friend leaderboards
  • Let friends see your planned workouts
  • Friend connection stats visibility
  • Searchable by username
  • Appear in friend suggestions and gym member lists
  • Block users to prevent all interaction

Share what you want, keep private what you don't.

🤝 Lifting Together

What are joint workouts?

+

Joint workouts let you train "together" with a friend even when you're not at the same gym. Start a joint session and:

  • See your friend's sets come in as they lift
  • Send encouragement with preset options or fully custom messages
  • Stay motivated knowing someone's lifting alongside you

You can see when friends are lifting right now and join their session, or invite them to yours.

How do I try a friend's workout?

+

When you see a friend's workout post in your activity feed, tap the "Try" button. Their exact sets and weights become your target—a built-in challenge to match or beat what they did.

It's a great way to push yourself and add some friendly competition to your training.

How do challenges work?

+

Challenges are based on a workout you've completed:

  • Create a challenge from one of your completed workouts
  • Invite friends to do the same exercises
  • Final scores are based on overall volume
  • See who tops the podium on the challenge leaderboard

Similar to trying a friend's workout, but with a dedicated leaderboard for that challenge. All competition features are optional.

What are the leaderboard categories?

+

Leaderboards track different aspects of training so everyone has a chance to shine:

  • Intensity King: Volume per minute
  • Volume Leader: Total volume lifted
  • Consistency Champion: Current workout streak
  • PR Machine: Most PRs hit
  • Iron Regular: Total workout sessions
  • The Balanced: Muscle group balance (lowest variance wins)

All leaderboard metrics can be filtered by time period—rolling week, calendar week, or month.

🏋️ Workouts

How does workout tracking work?

+

The workout system follows a structured approach:

  1. Create Workout Splits: Design training programs like Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, or custom splits
  2. Build Workouts: Add specific workout sessions within each split using our exercise library or custom exercises
  3. Log Sets: Report reps and weight for every set, building detailed workout history
  4. Track Progress: View personal records, volume progression, workout duration, and exercise statistics

The app includes a comprehensive exercise library with muscle groups, equipment types, and exercise classifications. You can also create your own custom exercises to add to your personal library.

How do Personal Records (PRs) work?

+

PRs are tracked per exercise and include:

  • Max Weight: The heaviest weight you've lifted for that exercise
  • Max Reps: The most reps you've completed in a single set
  • Max Volume: The highest volume (weight Ă— reps) in a single set

PR badges appear on your workout history and workout details screens so you can instantly see when you've hit a new record. View all your PRs in the Exercise Stats screen.

What is the 1RM estimate?

+

The 1RM (one-rep max) estimate calculates your theoretical maximum weight for a single rep based on your logged sets. It's calculated using the Epley formula and can be found in the PR section of Exercise Stats.

This helps you understand your true strength potential for each exercise without needing to actually attempt a max lift.

How do workout comparisons work?

+

Comparisons help you track progress at two levels:

  • Workout Stats: Compare overall metrics (average duration, total sets, total time, total volume) across time periods. Weekly view compares to last week, monthly to last month, and yearly to last year.
  • Workout Details: See each exercise and set (reps Ă— weight or time Ă— weight) compared to the last time you performed that exercise, set by set.

What can I see in Exercise Stats?

+

Exercise Stats gives you deep insights into each exercise:

  • Total workouts the exercise appears in
  • Total sets completed
  • Average weight per set
  • Total volume (with period comparisons)
  • Personal Records and 1RM estimate
  • Duration progression chart
  • Volume progression chart

Access Exercise Stats by tapping on any exercise from the workout details page.

What's the "Your Previous" section during workouts?

+

During workout tracking, each exercise has an expandable "Your Previous" section that shows the last time you performed that specific exercise.

It displays your previous reps and weights so you know exactly what to beat. This makes progressive overload easy - just aim to do a little more than last time!

Can I track time-based exercises?

+

Yes! When creating or editing an exercise, you can choose between rep-based or time-based tracking.

Time-based tracking is great for exercises like planks, wall sits, farmer's carries, and other holds or timed movements. You'll log time and weight instead of reps and weight.

What workout templates are available?

+

When creating a split, you can choose from pre-built templates with all workouts and exercises already configured:

  • Push/Pull/Legs - Classic 3-day split by movement pattern
  • Upper/Lower - Simple split dividing upper and lower body
  • 5-Day Bro Split - Traditional bodybuilding, one muscle group per day
  • Full Body 3 Day - Hit everything three times per week
  • HIIT Circuit Training - High-intensity interval circuits
  • Cardio and Strength Hybrid - Mix of lifting and cardio

You can also browse community templates created by other users—real programs from real lifters.
